Noche de cine

Each week, we have some special days at home where we do special things. For instance, Tuesdays we have fried eggs for breakfast and Saturdays for dinner - we call it "pirate´s dinner" -. Tuesdays and Thursdays night´s ¨we have Cinema, and we have dinner while watching a movie.

We have a TV but we cannot see any channel, because mom and dad does not want to, so the only movies we see are from DVD´s.

Olga´s favourite cartoons are Pocoyo, Alex loves Mortadelo y Filemón, and I am a fan of Tom / Jerry.

Daddy prepares a paper with the movies, so we can choose the movie we want to see. We never agree between us, and the most common thing is that each of us want to see a different movie. This week, Alex wanted to see Asterix, Olga wanted to see Bolt, and me, I wanted to see Arthur.

Mom and dad try to make us reach an agreement, but that is not easy, and we never completely agree. So this time, Dad choosed for us and he said that we were going to see Bolt.

I usually accept what Daddy says. But Alex gets usually upset, and he said he was not watching it. Dad asked him to watch just five minutes of the movie and after that, he would reconsider changing it. So the movie started and we liked it so much ! After a while, Dad asked us if we wanted to change and we all said "NO!".

By the way, I just started my piano lessons last week. I will be going one day per week, so I will have to practice just a bit every day...

Humpty Dumpty had a great fall... and survived!

Humpty Dumpty is a very famous character at CAC, and every year we read books about him, or hear stories... Alejandro even did a play last year about Humpty Dumpty.

Humpty Dumpty story is based on a poem:

Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall

Humpty Dumpty had a great fall

And all the King´s horses

And all the King´s men

Could not put Humpty Dumpty

together again

By the way, I forgot to say that Humpty Dumpty is... an EGG !! With arms, and legs, and eyes, and ears, and mouth...

So this weekend Ms Elder gave us some very strange homework. It was neither writing nor reading, not even maths... We had to design a costume for Humpty Dumpty !! And that costume should protect him from a big fall !! On Sunday we should bring our Humpty Dumptys with his costume to class and we would make a competition by throwing them from the Middle School second floor !! Which one will survive such a fall?

Mum and me spent a lot of time thinking about it. We though about parachutes, bottles of water, boxes with socks... but finally we came out with a very funny design, as you can see below, made up of plasticine. It took lots of work, but it was so much fun...

Today Daddy helped me bringing Humpty Dumpty to school. All the other kids had different designs. Some had put him within toilet paper, or wrapped with plastic, or put in a box... And the time of competition came. We went to the Middle School building and we threw them from the second floor. And mine survived !! I was so happy... Some other Humpty Dumptys also survived, and some other crashed.

I´m looking forward to see the videos...

This is a very nice book daddy and me checked out from the Library yesterday.

Did you ever wonder how big is a crocodile? Or the world´s largest spider? Well, you are about to see it...

Down here, for instance, you have the ATLAS MOTH, a butterfly so big that it is often mistaken for a bird. It is bigger than both my hands !!

And the smallest of all fish? Welcome the DWARF GOBY ! It is as big as my fingernails... I could certainly eat several hundreds...

Can you guess what comes next? It´s scary... it´s big... it´s a GIANT SQUID EYE. Can you imagine the rest? Body and tentacles are up to 20 meters long !! We will need a big grill !!

Do you think all birds fly? Well, this one does not !! As big as it is, it´s too heavy to fly... It´s an OSTRICH with its egg. If it´s fried, it´s my favourite plate !!

This one´s Alejandro´s favourite pet... the largest of spiders. The GOLIATH BIRDEATER TARANTULA, big enough to catch and eat birds and small mammals. Like my foot with eight legs !!

For this one, Olga did not dare to come close to the pic. More than thirty big teeth are enough to be scared... but finally she was brave when I told her it was asleep... Say hello to the SALTWATER CROCODILE, the world´s largest reptile...

After the big alligator nothing scares us, not even the GOLIATH FROG. It lives in Africa and can catch and eat birds and rats. It has to be a big CROAK...

High five with the GORILLA !!

It´s the turn of the insects, such as the heaviest one... It´s the GOLIATH BEETLE, and beside it, the world´s longest insect, the rare GIANT WALKING STICK !! Say cheeeeeeese !!

And finally, the king of land animals... This foot (the big one) belongs to the AFRICAN ELEPHANT.

I have learned many interesting things about these animals. The atlas moth do not feed! They have no mouth and they live only a few days ! And the giant squid has never seen alive ! The ostrich can´t fly, but it can run as fast as a car ! And a crocodile can stay one year without eating !

What a wonderful world...

Mi nuevo colegio

Ayer fuimos a conocer mi nuevo colegio y mis nuevas profesoras. Es el Colegio Americano. Puedo jugar en el parque, y papá me hizo una foto en mi nueva clase.

Escribí mi nombre en una manzana de papel, y me la colgué en el cuello. Después hice un puzzle de un camión. Y casi hice un puzzle de un tren. Después hice una corona. La recorté con tijeras y le puse redondeles y cuadrados con pegamento.

En mi clase tenemos una tortuga, y vive en el agua. Es muy bonita y no sé qué come.

Empezaré el colegio después de las vacaciones.
